Teaching Philosphy

My own teaching principles are focused around creating a safe and inclusive space where students' creativity can be fostered through innovated and contemporary projects. An art classroom should a place of curiosity and enjoyment, a place connected to the outside world. Art students should become lifelong learners.

I believe the art room to be a place where inclusivity can flourish. Every student should be able to achieve work they can be proud of regardless of SEN. Student and Teacher should be able to form a professional relationship in order to find what works best for the individual student. I have worked in the past outside of school setting with students with SEN, working with an organization called 'The Butterfly Club', which was a Saturday club for kids in vary age range, to come and play and interact with other kids, adults and young people. This was a safe space was these kids to explore, create and have fun in a care free environment. This really kicked started this passion and empathy from a young age. It really allowed for my eyes open to the world of possibilities when it came to SEN.

I want to connect students with the outside world, modern life beyond the classroom. Looking at contemporary artists and contemporary issues, allows students to be more engaged with the world around them. I remember from my own experience from secondary school, the classroom felt like an isolated place, disconnected the world beyond. There was a lack of connection to artists in the modern world and I felt that I didn't get the chance to properly explore the art world. Through only my time now in previous placement, I've been able to connect with artists in the classroom and be involved with rich and meaningful content.

I am a learner as well as my students. I want to be to be inspired by my students. Every school has the opportunity to offer something new and fresh, for me learn to from both students and other teachers. I've always been be questioning, being inquisitive. I want students to be just as curious. I want
